THE ELECTION ISSUE  (Vol. 14 #1/2)
Editor:
Barbara Ransby, University of Illinois at Chicago

The short essays in this 2012 election volume are more focused on raising questions than offering full-blown answers. We have contributions from an eclectic and stellar group of thinkers and organizers, people who are wrestling with some of the same issues, but from different locations and perspectives. Most of the articles here, in one form or another deal with inadequacy of electoral politics on the one hand, but the need to engage and critique elected officials, even the ones we elect, on the other. The themes of gender, sexuality, violence, wealth disparity and geopolitics are viewed through the lens of Neo-liberalism and its effects. We hope this volume will offer an opportunity for “what next?” conversations and debates after the election.
