In response to the July, 2013 verdict that rendered George Zimmerman not guilty of the murder of 17 year old unarmed Trayvon Martin, Vijay Prashad wrote Zimmerman is a Domestic Drone. Prashad’s claim that Zimmerman acted not just as a fanatical individual, but as a force sanctioned by the state raises deep philosophical questions about how we see, analyze and understand the continuum of violence inflicted upon Black bodies, and how Black people, in turn, respond.
